Data Deposition and Handling
The Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) promotes and adheres to the practice of Data Sharing and the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) always within the context of the basic principles of ethics in scientific publishing. As a scientific journal with growing international positioning, AJRPT provides recommendations and basic integrations for authors wishing to publish in the journal. Additionally, it informs that the editorial workflow for the rigorous handling of data corpus follows these COPE guidelines.
In the particular context of the editorial residency of the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT), the principles related to data sharing (UCD) are expressed in Law 26.899, which creates institutional repositories of Open Access either proprietary or shared, and its regulation. According to this regulation, CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas) established by resolution that the journals integrated into the Basic Nucleus of Argentine Scientific Journals "must require the supportive data of the research and its deposition according to Law 26.899, Institutional digital repositories of Open Access."
For those research studies with a defined corpus of data, and if these data or part of them are suitable for public sharing, the following guidelines should be followed:
- Host the DataSet in an institutional repository and share the associated identifier of said deposition.
- Share the DataSet identifier at the time of proposal submission.
- The data will be submitted for peer review concurrently with the proposed article. Best practices in reproducibility at the time of DataSet preparation as well as the corresponding article contribute to a higher index of readability and methodological clarity during the peer review process.
- In cases where the author does not have access to a specific repository, the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) encourages the use of the SciELo Data Open Access repository. AJRPT has a direct integration with this repository, allowing authors to upload their data directly from the article submission workflow in our OJS system. This direct integration between OJS and Dataverse is made possible thanks to this open-source plugin.
Sensitive Data
Sensitive data are those whose dissemination may cause some form of harm, such as those that allow the location or identification of individuals, provide the location of endangered species, disclose the location of sacred sites, endanger national security, or could infringe upon personal rights, such as the rights to honor, privacy, and image. Additionally, data are also considered sensitive if they are authored or owned by a funding entity that has not declared them as open access.
Research studies with data corpus containing sensitive information for public viewing must also be submitted to the journal and inform the Editorial Committee of the quality of the associated data corpus in the Cover Letter at the time of submission. Based on this communication, the editorial committee of the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) will assess the proposal's condition and proceed with mediating the editorial workflow to ensure rigorous anonymous review without compromising sensitive data for third parties. Likewise, the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) communicates that the reproducibility of the arguments presented in the proposed article should not be affected by the sensitivity of the data used.
PrePrints
Preprints are manuscripts either not evaluated by a journal or already evaluated but in process of publication. In accordance with our open access policy, our self-archiving policy, and our registration in Sherpa-Romeo, the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) encourages the deposition of submitted proposals in preprint servers and other repositories for both the submitted version, the accepted version, and the published version, only adhering to our distribution license and copyright.
Each published preprint must be reported at the time of acceptance through the OJS editorial workflow to carry out the corresponding management to update metadata associated with the versions in the different assigned DOIs.
In case there is no identified option for PrePrint deposition, the Argentinian Journal of Respiratory & Physical Therapy (AJRPT) recommends doing so in SciELO PrePrints.
