Prosthesis donning in subjects with transfemoral amputation
Abstract
Subjects with transfemoral amputation report it is hard to don a prosthesis, which may lead to discontinuation of use. If the prosthesis is not daily placed, changes of the stump may develop and affect socket fit. It may result in treatment failure and negatively impact the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the subject. It is important that physiotherapists know the correct prosthesis positioning in order to educate the subject to become independent. The prosthesis must be placed every day as perfectly as possible to avoid additional pain. Therefore, the aim of this study is to describe the procedure of prosthesis donning in subjects with transfemoral amputation.
