¿How to prepare your article?
Argentinian Journal of Respiratory and Physical Therapy (AJRPT) welcomes research related to physical therapy, respiratory and rehabilitation sciences. This includes clinical studies, basic or applied, on evaluation, prevention and treatment of respiratory and movement disorders. Download the complete guide for authors here.
Language of Submission
The manuscript must be submitted in Spanish. However, authors who do not speak Spanish may submit their work in Portuguese or English. In the event of acceptance, the publication will be in Spanish or in a bilingual format (Spanish-English), with the journal covering the costs of correction, editing, and distribution. Below is the information to prepare your submission. Please carefully read the guidelines and prepare your manuscript, along with the other required files for submission, accordingly. Your submission should include the following files:
File 1: Cover Letter
The cover letter is an essential part of your submission and plays a crucial role in the initial evaluation of your manuscript. We urge you to comprehensively incorporate the following elements into your letter: a) provide the title of the work and specify the section of the journal of interest (research articles, case reports, reviews), b) succinctly explain the original contribution and relevance of the work in the field of interest, c) confirm the reading and consideration of the author guidelines and ethical considerations, d) explicitly state that the work has not been previously published nor is under consideration in another journal, and e) transparently disclose any potential conflicts of interest. The detailed inclusion of these aspects will facilitate a more effective review by the Editorial Committee, emphasizing your commitment to quality and integrity in our journal's publication process.
File 2: Title Page
Download the template file here and complete the main information about the work and the author(s), including the following details:
- Title: full title of your work in both English and Spanish.
- Authors: names and surnames of each of the persons who meet the authorship criteria; last academic title; contact e-mail; ORCiD code; institutional affiliation. For Research Articles, a maximum of ten authors are accepted, and for Case Reports or Reviews, up to six are accepted. Any request to include additional authors must be explained in detail in the cover letter, clearly indicating the reason and justification for this.
- Author contributions: based on the CRediT taxonomy of author contributions, detail the type of contribution made by each author.
- Corresponding author: contact information of the main author for correspondence.
- Place where the study was conducted: Place where the research was carried out.
- Word count: The word limit for Research Articles is up to 3500 words, for Case Reports is 2000 words, and for Reviews is up to 5000 words. These limits do not include the title, abstract, references, tables, legends or textual content. Any exception to these limits must be explicitly justified in the cover letter, clearly stating the reason and justification for such a request.
- Acknowledgements: This space is reserved to express recognition to institutions and individuals whose contributions have been valuable for the development of the work, including collaborators who, although they do not meet the 4 authorship criteria [authorship criteria], have contributed significantly to the work.
- Funding: Provide details of any financial support received for the conduct of the research or writing of the article. Include the full names of the granting institutions, the title and code of the linked research project, as well as the year of award. The absence of funding should also be declared.
- Conflict of interest: Declare any relevant conflict of interest that may influence the interpretation or evaluation of the article. The absence of conflict must also be declared.
- Registry: If your research was registered, provide the registration number and the entity where it was registered. For example: "ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01234567".
- Derivations: In this section, include the name of the research that originated the article and details about other work derived from the same research on which this article is based.
File 3: Ethical Aspects, Conflict of Interest, Originality and Publication Rights Statement.
Download and fill out the declaration of ethics aspects, conflict of interest, originality and publication rights. Download the declaration file here.
File 4: Manuscript
PaTo prepare this file it is necessary to download and complete the appropriate template according to the category of your contribution, save the file in WORD format and nominate it as "Manuscript". It is essential to follow the appropriate template and carefully read the instructions provided in the complete guide to ensure proper presentation of your contribution.
a) Research Articles:
These encompass experimental studies, analytical observational studies, surveys, translations or transcultural adaptations of questionnaires, and studies that develop or evaluate psychometric properties of tools. Case series with descriptive statistics are included here; otherwise, they should be submitted as "Case Reports."
Download the template here. Read carefully the detailed instructions in the complete guide to ensure a proper submission of your work ("Complete Guide for Authors”).
The template must be completed with the items listed below:
Title: In English and its Spanish version.
Quick Look: Consists of two sections: "What is known?" summarizes current knowledge clearly, avoiding questions, and "What this paper contributes to our knowledge?" presents the main message based on results, without numerical data or speculation about future research.
Abstract: Abstract: In English (limited to 250 words) and its Spanish version. The abstract structure should include the following sections: "Objective","Materials and Methods", "Results", "Conclusion", and "Keywords". For the latter, the inclusion of six terms identifying the content of the work is requested, using terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list of the National Library of Medicine (link). Additionally, the use of the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) list from the Virtual Health Library (link). is permitted.
Body of the text: With a limit of 3500 words, organize your work into five sections: "Introduction", "Materials and Methods", "Results","Discussion", and "Conclusion". For citations, use the numeric format with superscript, placing them after the period without a space. Avoid the use of parentheses; in non-consecutive citations, separate them with commas, and if there are 3 or more consecutive citations, use an en dash. Also, limit the total number of tables and figures in the manuscript to a maximum of 5, with the option to include additional tables and/or figures in the "Supplementary Material" (see "Other Files").
Reference List: Use the correlating numerical system (Vancouver) based on the NLM style (link). The maximum number of references allowed is 30.
Table/s: Tables should be incorporated using an editable format, avoiding insertion as an image to facilitate editing. Number the tables consecutively and refer to them in the text as Table 1, Table 2, etc.
Figure Captions: Although figures are submitted as separate files, figure captions should be included in the manuscript. Provide a brief explanation for each figure and include definitions of abbreviations used in them.
Textual Contents of Figures: To facilitate future editing in the event of the work's acceptance, include all textual contents present in each of the figures in this section.
b) Case/s Reports:
This category encompasses reports of notable clinical cases in respiratory or physical therapy, describing history, presentation, and management. They should contribute to the knowledge of kinesiology and have educational value or highlight the need for changes in kinesic practice. Also included in this category are case series without descriptive statistics.
