Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the “Patient Specific Functional Scale”
Abstract
Objective: Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the PSFS into Argentine Spanish.
Materials and method: The translation process consisted of five stages that ranged from the translation of the original version, synthesis and back translation to the development of a pre-final version. The translated version was assessed for comprehensibility in patients who attended the Kinesiology Unit of Hospital General de Agudos Dr. Ignacio Pirovano.
Results: 31 patients were interviewed, 16 (51.6 %) of them were women, with a median age of 56. Regarding
the general impression and comprehension of instructions, 96.8% of patients answered the questions satisfactorily.
Conclusion: We have successfully obtained a final Argentine Spanish version of the PSFS with the purpose of
using it at our hospital.
